I wanted to comment on this story earlier in the week; however, time restraints did not allow it. It appears that prior to hosting his annual Iftaar dinner President Bush repeated a theological assertion he has made before: "I believe in an Almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That's what I believe." From a biblical perspective, such a belief is completely false. In fact, such a statement is completely incompatible with Christianity. If this statement is true, then Jesus Christ was a liar.
I am sure the President made this comment in an effort to promote peace, and Christians certainly do desire and pray for peace. But Christians also realize that the God-man Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through him. Jesus is the only Prince of Peace, and falsehoods will never promote the peace that only he can bring.
